The new lighting is both an energy-efficient renovation and an atmospheric enhancement for the use as a gastronomy and event area. It is integrated into the powerful architecture with a subtle intervention in the building fabric. A precise and calm lighting design aims to preserve the character of the building as a place of refuge and tranquility.
The new monastery building, designed by Zurich architect Walter Moser, was completed in 1970 and accommodates over 200 Dominican sisters. Already in the 1980s, the wing with the boarding school and school was opened as an educational and community center for the public. The brutalist architecture is characterized by exposed raw concrete and an emphasis on the structure.
